The blue-white-blue triband of Argentina is the pattern of many flagz in Central America (cf letter Q). Its colors were inspired from the white & blue cockades worn by the Liberation Army against the Spanish rule. The republican revolution started in Buenos Aires on 25 May 1810. The sun which sometimes appears on the flag is The Sun of May that shone that very day, accordin to the legend. The independence was finaly claimed on 9 July 1816 and really achieved on 5 April 1818.The present pattern was adopted on 27 FEBRUARY 1812.
