            The colors are taken from Argentina but instead of a triband they are repeated in nine stripes that represent the nine original provinces of the country. It might as well has been inspired from the Stars & Stripes. The sun in the canton is the famous Sun of May, symbol of freedom from Spain. The present pattern was adopted on 11 JULY 1830.
