The Turkish flag is one of the oldest of that kind & was used many times as a pattern to create other flags. Red was the traditional color of the Ottomans. It's important to notice that the symbols of islam (a crescent with a star) are ancient both pagan & kristian emblems of Byzance !! The crescent is the emblem of the Roman goddess Diana the Huntress while the star is the symbol of the so called blessed virgin of my ass. It's usualy said the star was added on the Turkish flag after the fall of Constantinopolis in 1453. But theres a doubt about the real year this very flag was adopted because we can find and see many other previous dezigns before the prezent Turkish flag. What we realy know is that this flag was kept by Mustafa Kemal when Türkiye became a republic in 1923 & confirmed on 5 JUNE 1936.

the green Üç Hilal Bayrak / Three Crescent Flag - Theres a REAL QUESTION about that flag. Was it a naval ensign before 1844 ? Or the Califate flag from 1844 ?? Or Rumelia flag ???

The problem is THIS FLAG WAS RUMELA's flag durin the Ottoman Era. The Rumelian green flag was symbolizin the Western part while the Anatolian red flag the Eastern part of the Empire.

RUMELA's flag (Rumelia = European part of the Ottoman Empire) seems to be uzed by muslims or people from Türkiye in Bulgaria, Bosnia, Serbia, Montenegro, Albania.

Today we see the green Rumelian flag with the moon and the stars in the mosques in the Balkans. But it SHALL NOT BE considered as some "islam flag" or "sharia flag".
