            The kingdom of Siam traditionaly used a plain red flag adorned with a white elefant. In 1916 the king was visitin the country & saw one flag up side down. He was so upset (so they say !) that he decided to create a brand new flag which could not be wrongly hoisted. This new flag was like the present version but the central band was red. One year later this band was turned into blue as a homage to the Allies of WW1 but also (and above all) to represent the Thai monarky. This new design was named the Trairong ("Tricolor" in Thai). In 1939 Siam was renamed Mwang Thai which means Thai Free (allusion toward the Japanese ocupation). The old elefant emblem is still displayed on the war ensign. The present pattern was adopted on 28 SEPTEMBER 1917.

           I realy DO suggest to change CHIANG MAI flag for the elefant to be very vizible & for the flag to be very unic.
           I chozed a turquoise color insted of a light blue in order to highlight the elefant, who dezerve to be.
