Paraguayan triband dates from 1811 when the country became independent from Spain. The obverse bears the arms with the Star (or Sun) of May (cf Argentina) while the reverse displays the Seal of the Treasury with a lion holdin a spear with a revolutionary cap adorned with the motto "Paz y Justicia" (Peace & Justice). The 1811 triband was "bare" and the coat of arms of the capital city Asuncion was added in 1812. It was replaced by the national seal on 27 November 1842. The dezign of the seal was shifted on 27 August 1999. It was shifted again on 18 July 2013.

NOTE #1
: The date 1926 is quite weird as the "1926" dezign was ALREADY
displayed by McCandless
and Grosvenor (titled “Flags of the World”) in the National Geographic Society book
from 1917 !!!! It clearly shows the use of arms with a blue
background. Sometimes things are strange and we just cant get
why..........!
NOTE #2
: Theres a possible flag of 1812 adorned with the then shield of
Asuncion.... but it's NOT sure at all !!!

NOTE : The flag of CAAZAPA is quite a failure as it's just only
a small logo on a white flag !!!! It'd be by far much vexillo correct &
estheticaly better that way :
