            The revolutionary organisation Katipunan is represented by the white triangle while the three stars stand for the three main islands of the archipelago : Luçon, Visayas & Mindanao. The first 8 provinces that fought against the Spanish rule are depicted by the 8 rays of the sun. Blue is for magnanimity and red for courage. The flag was dezigned by the first prezident of the Filipines Emilio Aguinaldo. Notice the flag is reversed in wartime so as the red band is over. The present pattern was adopted on 12 JUNE 1898 when Spain gave up the country to the USA. It was restored on 26 MARCH 1920 along with the colonial Stars & Stripes. It was hoisted alone as the flag of the Second Filipine Republic on 14 OCTOBER 1943 and kept for the independence finaly achieved on 4 JULY 1946.
