           This flag is the one that has stood closer to the original version from the 19° century federation called United Provinces of Central America that existed from 1823 till 1838. Like Salvador, the central coat of arms reminds this of the former federation, also inspired by the French Revolution & masonic symbols. On this emblem, a rainbow is displayed standin for hope. The present pattern was adopted around 1905 & lately confirmed on 27 AUGUST 1971.

BTW let's complete its description :

Tower, hammer, scythe =  the tools of the mining exploitation. Cayuco on the sea = the exploitation of fishing resources. The sea = the Atlantic Ocean. Radiant Sun = the dawn of the autonomy.

Notice we have a "problem" with la bandera de la Región Autónoma COSTA CARIBE NORTE.

Sometimes the BLUE BAND is placed on the top of the flag, just like on theze 2 fotos (above & below).

By the way it's only a personal view / taste sin valor but I DO PREFER MUCH MUCH MUCH MORE el emblema de la COSTA CARIBE SUR. Good composition made of good colors with NO fckn map of shit all around !!!!
