            The flag is based on this of the Arab Revolt flag created in 1916 by Mark Sykes, first pattern of what is called the Pan Arab colors. Yet, instead of a usual triangle, this flag bears a black trapeze like Irak 1924 flag. The present pattern was adopted on 7 SEPTEMBER 1961.
