Again inspired from the French Tricolor ! It's said that Bonaparte (the pro slavery) himself would have designed it by chosin his favorite color which was green (so they say). The first version appeared in 1796 in northern Italy then annexed to France. After 1815 the Italian tricolor became very pop against the Austrian ocupation, particularly with Garibaldi & his "Red Shirts". The unity was claimed in 1861 & the triband adopted as the new flag with the shield of Savoie on it (becos the Italian kings were taken among the House of Savoie). It was dropped in 1946 when Italy became a republic. However both civil & naval ensigns still bear their own shield, displayin the arms of Venice, Genes, Amalfi & Pisa. Notice that the lion of Venice holds a book on the civil ensign but a sword on the naval. The present pattern was adopted on 19 JUNE 1946.

Before a short time of unity under the French rule and the REAL unity achieved in 1861, ITALIA was split into many small kingdoms, principalities and free cities durin many centuries. It must be said this fact was due to the existence and the vile and ominous behaviour of the Papal States (the ancestor of the vatican) that have prevented Italia to achieve its unity for centuries. (As I M extremely attached to the Italian Unity, I very strongly suggest the Italian People shall destroy the vatican.)

751
(independent from Exarchate of
Ravenna) (flag only +/- 1350)
This flag is displayed everywhere as "Kingdom of Lombardo-Veneto under Austrian rule from 1815 till 1866" but this flag is DEFINITELY NOT that !!!!
2 REMARX :
REMARK #1
This flag could be an old rank flag
/ military standard for the Austrian viceroy. But it SHALL be
yello, just like the shield.
There was 5 viceroys of Lombardo-Veneto :
Count Heinrich von Bellegarde (1815-1816)
Archduke Anton Viktor of Austria (1816-1818)
Archduke Rainer of Austria (1818-1848)
Count Johann Joseph Wenzel Radetzky von Radetz (1848-1857)
Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian (future Emperor Maximilian 1 of Mexico) (1857-1859)
and this is the shield of the Austrian viceroys of Lombardo-Veneto from 1815 till 1866. Of course it is NOT GREEN BUT YELLO !!!!
So it was very highly probably the
personal standard of thoze 5 viceroys. So it could be a yellow flag as a
military / imperial standard very typical with its blak "teeth"
all around :
Then it would be very close to the Austrian imperial standard from 1828 till 1867, so it would confirm the hypothesis of a flag as a PERSONAL STANDARD Austrian viceroy BUT DEFINITELY NOT a national flag :
REMARK #2 This green flag has JUST NEVER existed. Indeed : the GREEN color (insted of yello) loox DEFINITELY unlikely.
Anyhow I guess this weirdo green flag is a mistake passed from bad vexillolog toward bad vexillolog. The yello color is used at least since 962 as emblem of the First Reich, so I just CANT get which idiot asshole decided to turn it green !!!!
I DO guess the Italian vexillolog Roberto BRESCHI is THE BEST source about Italian flagz, aint it ? He NEVER displays this green flag so called "Kingdom of Lombardo-Veneto under Austrian rule from 1815 till 1866".
U can check it out just right here
