Indeed : accordin to The Flag Bulletin, Issue XX:3 May-June 1981 article "New Flags : Islamic Republic of Iran", page 72,
the original reporting of the new flag stated the emblem was green, with the colour being said to characterise "growth, development and the right path to advancement".
So I say it AGAIN : This emblem is often displayed colored blak or red in many sites & I STILL must say I just DONT know why !!!!
