Even if it's not the very slavic pattern white-blue-red, Croatia uses the colors of the Pan Slav movement of the 19° century. Its original triband dates from 1848. When Yugoslavia became a comunist State in 1946 a yello fimbriated red star was added on each flag of the then six republix (on 18 January 1947 for Croatia). When Croatia gained its independence from Yugoslavia the star was replaced by the old checky chessboard. The top crown is made of five shields standin for Ancient Croatia, Dubrovnik, Dalmatia, Istria, Slavonia (the now constitutin regions). The present pattern was adopted on 21 DECEMBER 1990.
(Thou it was a comunist country of shit I must say I regret Yugoslavia.... I M a Yugostalgic Frenchie ! We are ALL guilty -and maybe France first- for havin allowed the fuckin whores of that NATO of shit to destroy Yugoslavia.)
NB : Unlike Jos POELS (from the shit site SHIT FOTW) may say, there is absolutely NO so called "1:2 tradition" in the Balkans except in Croatia since 1848.
NB+ : As a
Yougostalgik Frenchie, I DO REFUZE to opoze our brothers
Croats against our brothers Serbs. That's only Satan shit. I
DO NOT TAKE PART.

VEXILLO-NOTE
#1 (REPUBLIC OF RAGUSA) :
1358-1808
secondary
flag of the Republic of Ragusa (Both flags, with St
Blaise and with the word LIBERTAS, were the maritime flags, but
also had some use on land.)
Ragusa a white flag with a black "monk" detailed in white, as
visible on the flag chart dated 1848 by Norrie & Hobbs
The
black "monk" comes from the French Encyclopédie edited by Denis
Diderot and Jean le Rond d'Alembert from 1751 till 1766.
"Other ensign of Ragusa, adorned with a monk dressed in black,
written Saint Benedict on both sides."
The flag charts often depicted the saint not as a bishop (as is the standard depiction) but as a monk.
The letters S B were understood to stand not for "Sanctus Blasius" but for "Sanctus Benedictus". Clearly, St Benedict of Nursia was a better-known saint in WesternEurope than St Blaise.

MARKO's project - On the 2016 propozal, the red loox TOO VIOLET,
the yello loox TOO ORANGE, the blue loox TOO GREY. I changed the 3
shades (red & blue of Hrvatska).
Rijeka
eagle by WikiMERDIA VS
mine
after both Roberto BRESCHI & the Clock Tower
The eagle on the baroque city clock tower in Rijeka
The eagle seems to have VERY OFTEN 2 bodies as it loox like some Siamese twins. But on the real foto on the baroque city clock tower in Rijeka, the eagle has ONE SINGLE body with ONE SINGLE chest bearing both heads.
The amphora seems to be VERY
OFTEN colored ORANGE and the water is BLUE. But on the real foto,
the city clock tower shows a golden amphora & white water.

#3 (THE CROAT CHESSBOARD) :
banner
of arms of Croatia from 1527
QUESTION from Marko : I love that
banner of arms. Does it date back from the creation of the Kingdom
of Croatia in 925 ?
So, to sum it up rapidly :
VEXILLO-NOTE
#4 (ANCIENT CROATIA) :
so-called
banner of Croatia in 1307, so-called "nationalist flag" against
the Magyars
QUESTION from Marko : I love that
banner of arms. Yet THERE'S NO WORD about it !!!! I don't remember
where I found it many years ago. I remember I found it red. So why
is it light blue on the shield of Croatia ?

several other sources like WikiMERDIA here for instance
Real foto showin a real flag of Sisak - Obviously the thin red & white stripes are ON THE TOP of the flag. But I must say I regret it as I find WikiMERDIA's version + cute !!!!
The
mistake comes from the vertical banner :

+ 3 BONUS STUFS :
So WHY did I chose a ratio 1:2 for my project of Yugoslav Union / 4° Yugoslavia while there is absolutely NO so called "1:2 tradition" in the Balkans (except in Croatia since 1848) ???? Because it loox much + elegant !!!!
A 4° BRAND NEW YUGOSLAVIA WITH A PERFEKT BALANCE BETWIN HRVATSKIS & SRPSKIS AND WITH A BRAND NEW CAPITAL IN BOSNAVAR, NOT WITH ITS TURK NAME SARAJEVO BUT WITH ITS SLAV NAME.
