Honduras was also a member of the former Federation of the United Provinces of Central America (1823-1838). This explains the choice of a horizontal triband blue/white/blue. The country is independent since 1838 but the five stars were added only in 1866 as a rememberance of the previous union & as well as a wish of the revival of this federation. The present pattern was adopted on 18 JANUARY 1949.

That seems to be the
emblem of the armed forces since 1870.... I find it much +
beautiful than the very complicated coat of arms in use
oficialy. Less stuf and + elegant !!!!

Despite
I tried to get info about it, it's just IMPOSSIBLE to know the
meanin of the 2 white stars. Maybe Tegucigalpa within the
department of Francisco Morazán ??
However
the OFICIAL FLAG SHALL HAVE 2 white stars, the flag of Tegucigalpa
is quite very often displayed with NO stars. I dont know why
but.... it loox BETTER !!!!
On this foto we can see at least 1 star !!!!
But
on that foto we can only guess & wonder.... and maybe theres
no star at all on that flag of Tegucigalpa....
However
I D like to talk NOT about the stars but about the coat of arms.
I know it's not my bizness because, after all, I M just a

Somethin loox very
strange about HONDURAS flag. Indeed : it's the oficial 1949
dezign (so they say) with a quite big space betwin stars (so
they say) but the flag-makers obviously dont seem to agree as we
can see on this foto taken durin the Fiesta DC 2019 Parade and
displayin a.... 1933 dezign !!!! So : if anybody knows, pleaze
contact us ! Muchas gracias. BTW I realy think I prefer the 1933
dezign in matter of distance betwin the starz !!!!
