The blue-white-blue flag of Argentina inspired this of the United Provinces of Central America that existed from 1823 till 1838. That explains why most countries of this area display such a flag. Yet the case of Costa Rica is a bit peculiar. The flag was adopted in 1822 but a red band was added in 1848 when the country became a republic & as well as regard to France that inspired such a revolutionary movement. The present pattern was adopted in 1848.

NOTE #1
: I just DONT know nor CANT get WHY the flag of LIMON is
extremely often drawn with the white band at the bottom.
just like on this Tshirt for instance
Yet it does NOT seem to be that way AT ALL. Neither on
this beach....
....nor
on this painting on the wall.
NOTE #2 : This NONSENSE up-side-downed LIMON flag is extremely often made of a very light blue shade of color. Neither light nor mid nor navy blue. It loox pale blue. Neither on this beach nor on this painting on the wall.
LET'S MASTURBATE TOGETHER :
pale blue
light blue
mid blue
navy blue
