           The "life" of this flag is a bit the same as this of Bénin. The present flag was chosen on 18 August 1958 & then adopted when Kongo became independent from France in 1960. A comunist regime came into bein in 1963, claimed a so called Pop Republic in 1969 & then chose a comunist emblem. The flag was red with farm tools in the canton (directly inspired from the sovietic flag). Alike Bénin this regime fell & the previous flag was restored. The present pattern was (re)adopted on 10 JUNE 1991.
