The explanation of the flag is very close to this of the Bahamas : blue for the sea, yello for the sun. The Trident of Neptune was displayed on the colonial arms & was retained after the so called independence from the UK. The present pattern was adopted on 30 NOVEMBER 1966.

HISTORY OF THE BADGE :
The same badge of Barbados with
Vicky, redezigned
in a very slight variant in 1955.
- Document from
1955.
Another version of the great seal with King
George 6 appeared on the following 1938 stamp.
- No great seal created in Barbados neither
for Edward 7 nor Edward 8.
The simple postal stamp of Barbados was replaced by a postage-&-revenue
stamp in the period
1925-1935, still with King George 5.
Yet,
the old tradition of displayin monarchs was maintained. This stamp dates from
1921, featurin King George 5 in the same style as
George 3 or Charles 2.
A penny was minted in 1792, keepin the very same style,
but featurin King George 3. Notice that, in 1792, ther is
still NO badge for Barbados.
Seal created
in 1680 show King William 3 seated side by side with
Queen Mary 2 standing. Maybe this explain why all kings are drawn
seated while Vicky is standing....
A great seal was created
for Barbados in 1663, featurin King Charles 2, in the style of
Neptune (trident), riding in a chariot drawn by two sea
horses, wearing his royal robes & crown.
The Latin motto "ET
PENITVS TOTO REGNANTES ORBE BRITANNOS" can be translated by "AND THE BRITISH RULING
THE WHOLE WORLD". Wot a shit
