The pattern of the Albanian flag dates back from the 15° century. It was adopted by the national heroe Skanderbeg (whose real name was George Kastriota) fightin against the Turkish ocupation of Albania. The very name of the country Shkiperia means "Land of the Eagles". Since its adoption in 1912 (independence) the flag has been shifted several times but the very design has remained the same. The present pattern was adopted on 7 APRIL 1992. Notice there may be both civil & naval ensigns but I do not show them as I M not sure they realy exist as I got some contradictory infos from their embassy in Paris.
